Huntsman Not Eating (With Pics)

I have had a huntsman (not sure on species you can see pic on my couple true's thread) for just over 3 weeks now, and I think she has only eaten one cricket and now she is not eating at all. I have read all kinds of posts saying how these guys are voracious feeders. I am not sure how old she is I would say she is only about 3-4 inches with her legs all the way extended. She does a great job drinking the drops of water off the side of the tank so I know she is fine there and I have a heat pad on the back of the tank so she should be plenty warm. Any advice would be great.

Without a scientific name it is pretty difficult.
1. If it's a tropical sp. perhaps it drinks the water drops because she is dehidrated (low humidity level in the tank) If it is a possibility then rise the humidity level to 80-85%.
2. Probably the heat pad makes the water inside precipitate onto the glass. Because of this the spider can't move properly on it, it can disturb your spider in case if it has no other vertical things to climb on.
3. I would recommend you to clean it's tank and insert new soil.

(If it is an adult one and too old, then you have my sympathy...)

Its very new substrate I don't think I need to change it, and the moisture is from me spraying it on the glass. The spider walks up to the drops and drinks it, and that is also how I keep it fairly moist in there. It has two climbing objects (that I have never seen it on)

If the humidity is high and you left a dead cricket or something else in the tank in 1-2 days many parasites may appear that can disturb/kill your spider.

If the tank is big enough with a good ventillation and you just spray on the glass, then after a few hours all of the extra water will be out. Water the substrate, imo that's the best. If you see it's getting dryer just add some water...

Anyway, judging by the picture I don't think you should worry. It doesn't look like hungry. Try feeding a week later..

Hi,

I have bought one of these from Martin Goss, cost me about £8, arrives next week.

I have done some reading on the net, and have my nut around the basics.

Their main asset appears to be their speed?

My apartment is pretty warm, would you recommend another heat source, as well?

I was just going to find a tall 'tank', even a glass biscuit jar, and place an inch or so of sub in there, some flattened stones, and some branches for it to climb.

It would be nice to hear from anyone who has had one of these, including the OP.

Thanks

Hello,

unfortunately I haven't ever kept this sp. but I can tell that Sparassidae spp. are pretty fast and easy to keep. Play them in a big room with much free space, then you can catch them without any problem. I think the average room temperature is OK for them, but if it's a warm one (82-83F) then it's absolutely perfect.

Hi. this is a malaysian tan huntsman. I had two of these and they don't seem to be really voracious feeders. They are docile and laid back, beautiful too. I would love to find some more and breed them.

Hi everyone,

I'm a newbie here and I have a 7 months old huntsman whom I got as a sling. However, after her last molt a month ago, she just stopped eating (after eating a lot) and now she won't eat any of the Lats I feed her. I gave her fresh water in her small water dish everyday and she would just drink water and hang out on her bark/hide. I am getting worried on what is happening to her. my country is humid and I have other pets (Tarantulas) who eat well but it's just my huntsman who won't eat. Pardon my grammar, as I am not a native English speaker. Thank you.
