I'm doing a school assignment at the moment on the glorious creature known as a huntsman. I've basically finished the assignment, and now know an awful lot about sparassids, but I can't find out ANYWHERE at what age they become sexually mature! I have googled and googled and I have read through umpteen books, looked at dozens of sites, but nowhere is it mentioned. With the exception of the Dancing White Lady Spider of Namibia.
There is a multitude of information on other spiders, but none on sparassids, specifically Heteropoda cervina. If anyone could help me it would be absolutely fantastic.

Thanks, mel

I'm pretty sure it's the last molt that they become sexually mature. My Heteropoda venatoria's didn't start laying egg-sacks till their last adult molt.

they become mature after a certain or roughly certain number of molts. the amount of time this takes can vary a HUGE amount based on how much food they get and the temperature... so saying anything but a very rough amount of time to maturity, or a range, is misleading.
