Hello, I have recently gotten my first tarantula. It is a curly hair. My room is very dry like 25% humidity I have a humidifier running to help. Is it too dry for my tarantula? Is a water dish and misting the soil truly enough? Also does my enclosure look ok? Anything i should change? Thank you so much!

Also I have a larger water dish on the way. I am just using these three small ones I had for my previous wolf spider.

Enclosure looks fine.

Do not trouble yourself with striving for a specific humidity ppercentage. Water dish(es) and adding water to the substrate is good enough. Misting is not - it only wets the very surface and evaporates quickly, so it is ineffective.

Better to pick a corner, usually where the water dishes are, and pour enough water down the corner to reach the bottom. The substrate will act like a sponge and absorb the water, distributing it, and allowing a larger amount to evaporate slowly. That way you only need to add water once in a while, when you see that the sub has mostly dried out.

If your T desires more moisture, it will find this area of moist substrate and hang out there, maybe even digging down to the more moist layers underneath. Think of nature, where moisture is below the surface, not right on the top with very dry dirt below.

Don’t worry about humidity. T albo likes it dry. Your enclosure looks good, the only adjustment I’d make is to use a milk top as a water dish, because those 3 blue ones you have seem small and you won’t need to refill as often with a bigger one.

Get rid of humidifier
Provide dish for drinking
That’s all you need to do

Don't focus on humidity and definitely get rid of the humidifier. You'll drive yourself crazy. Dry is how you're supposed to keep this species. Just keep the waterdish full.

Thank you so much guys! Google was giving me mixed answers saying I needed a crazy amount of humidity for my curly. You were all very helpful and I'm happy to be apart of this beautiful community.

Thank you! You have very beautiful tarantulas!

I like that setup, you provided enough substrate to prevent a dangerous fall for your T which is something new keepers often neglect. All you need now is that larger water dish and you're golden.

If you're looking for something cheap/free, 5 Guys has those ketchup deli cups that can work as a water dish for a tarantula of that size.

The humidifier, at this point, will be more work then its worth.

i agree with those who said to not use it.

i would make a part of my enclosures sub moist. Not by misting, but adding a bit of water enough to change the overall color of sub.

Notice the dark left corner in my pic? That part is where bottom of burrow is. Everything else is dry. That means the entire burrow has gradients of moisture. My tarantula stays down there right now. And my house humidity levels are very low.
