Cool...that species ranges all thru europe, the ones in germany get quite a bit bigger.

Only reason I questioned that, huge fish out of water too long usually end up dying quickly, might be the heavy weight out of the water might squish there insides, sort of like a horse or elephant down for too long could die from that.

Yeah i understand that. Ive never had any problems with catfish dieing quickly though. Ever cut one up?

No they dont.
32 Wels catfish fry were introduced into the Ebro at small village called Mequinenza by a German biologist Roland Lorkowski in the mid 70’s. Due to the warm weather the catfish are growing at a guessimate rate of 15LB+ per year which is a much large % than any German catfish could ever hope for.

Yes they do.
Ive fished literally all over the world, and have caught some huge wels in german lakes...
And yes....i have read that site, and im not arguing about weight gain ratios from where they naturally occur versus where they have been artificially introduced.
And I believe the natural range record is still held by a german fish from kiebingen.
