Is there anyway to mark my BDFBs so that I can tell them apart and study them? Can I use non toxic acrylic paint?

Hmm you want to put like a dog collar and bell 🔔 on them but the beetle version? So you can identify each one separately.
You’re gonna have to wait on the experts I have no idea on that.🕵️‍♀️😁

Males should have hair on antennae. Atleast thats a start. More to come for sure.

i would try a food coloring, something natural and safe. Otherwise, it is always a risk.

There are subtle differences in appearance. (coloration, abdominal patterns / markings, abnormalities etc.)
Perhaps - Individua Reference Pictures with Assigned I.D.'s / Name or Number

You could try marker pens that beekeepers use to mark the queens. These are safe for inverts.

Arteza acrylic paint markers are said to be non toxic and popular for this. I don't keep bees though, so 'i can't confirm.
Can anyone else?
