I recently received some horrid king assassin bugs, it seems that they breed at room temperature, is it possible to prevent them from breeding somehow??

Keep one or just separate males and females as soon as possible. What’s the problem with them breeding though? Seems fun to have babies.

Don't worry about stopping them from breeding - just send me the surplus nymphs!

Seriously, though - it shouldn't be too hard to find homes for them if you end up with too many. Just post an ad here in the classifieds, and you should have no trouble selling or giving away the extras.

Keep the soil dry. The eggs only really develop in moist soil. For hydration, give them water dishes.

  • Psytalla horrida requires no water, ever, for it gets water directly from it’s prey
  • Even in dry condition, eggs still can be developed, and hatched with no problem

Thanks for that information. In my case, drying out the soil had drastically reduced reproduction. But good to know they still can.

As for hydration: I have seen specimens drink from water dishes (in my case a few small seashells) several times. I guess it's optional. Good to know it ain't critical.
