You may want to post this in the "tarantula discusions" section, you'll get more responses. As for your question....I really have no idea.

just finished up my winter set up today, well almost. its getting chilly around here at night now, I picked up a 20 gallon long tank from craigslist for 15 bucks, a piece of plexi from home depot for 12 bucks, and had a zoo med heat mat and zilla meter. the plexi is not shown cause i still need to cut to size and drill vent holes. heat mat is on the back wall (but its really the bottom of the tank):?
**never put a T on top of a heat mat :embarrassed:

here is a good link.. do a search, tons of threads on it..

the only good way to heat a tarantula tank is to move it to warmer ambient temp lol
or to warm the ambient air.

Can be economically achieved by using an incubation system as pictured above, though I prefer the use of a low-watt heat lamp (red bulb).

i just plastic wrap (special thick plastic) over my window frame to add the extra barrier. Then I make sure i keep my door closed to keep the heat in. The lights i have over my tanks heat the room up just fine. Its 18 degrees in my house right now and we are trying to wait as long as possible to turn the heat on. My room is about 22 degrees Celsius most of the day.
