Found a wolf spider egg sac. Has anyone hatched one of these before? Not sure what happened to the mom but she was dead right beside it.

I have it in a incubator but didn’t know if they need to he opened or not.

It's black, I'd say just open it... in a container with smooth sides but I doubt it's good, never seen one that looked that black. Should at least be EWL if alive.

Infertile I guess. It almost looks like someone spray-painted it black, look how it's cracking... wild

and the little dust thread on top sticking out is black too... I think someone literally spray painted mom and she dropped it.

Its not spray painted, this color is fairly common with wolf spiders dependent on species from what I read.

I've only worked with a few species, so I can't say for sure, but mine have darkened from the inside from the molts and stuff after they hatch, I haven't seen anything black from the outside like that, especially with a shell on it.

Awesome! Still really surprised about that sac, any idea what species? Normal incubation pot should work from here... I'm pretty sure I've seen a thread on here how to make them otherwise I'll try to explain.. Congratulations.

They are in the incubator now. I place my sacs on a bottle cap sometimes. I am in central Alabama so I will have to do some species research.
