I have an empty garden box in my yard and I find isopods, worms, centipedes but I can’t find beatle grubs. I have decaying fruit, rotten wood, leaf litter but still no beetles. Is it the time of year why I can’t find any?

I normally find them in the spring/summer when I'm digging. Used to snack on them in between chores....

I’m trying to find cottonwood beetles. It’s 75 degrees where I’m at now. I figured they would be out by now. Any idea what month they start popping up

No Idea if you are somewhere south, I live in the NE so the only time to really look for them is spring, I assume the same applies where you live.

Grubs are almost always found in wood pumice. You should look in a legally forgeable area to supplant them from. A garden box is like trying to catch shrimp with a 1x1 net and 2 foot handle.

I also have a compost tub outside but only find centipedes and isopods. There is a forest down the street with tons of cottonwood trees but it’s very sketchy. Will try and go down there but my main option is the garden boxes

This thread is probably never going to get a sewer Ed but does anyone know if there are good pet beetles in CA. Mainly ones that produce grubs
