Hi,
I want to try breeding jumping spiders, and am trying to find some. I need some help…
I am on vacation in C.O. I have found lots of very old nests, but haven’t seen any. I have looked for a few hours today, and sadly found nothing. It’s rainin, so that may be why… (also what time is best to catch them). Thanks for any advise!

Just put them in a cup with ventilation and you’re good to go.

I find most of mine around early evening on walls. They like to bask there to catch some sun before it sets. Personally I like to put one of those mini 1oz jars over them, and gently tap it so they fall into the jar. Anything clear with a lid works so you can see what you are doing. Hope that helps!

I find a lot of jumping spiders on fences, at my house we have the metal chain link fence. I can find 4 or 5 on the same stretch of fence

When we started looking for Regal jumping spiders, 10 years ago, we would have the problem where they would see you before you get to them. We made a fishing pole to kind of lure them out.

Hi. Try using a fishing pole. Anywhere you hunt for jumping spiders it would be wise to create a fishing pole. A skinny stick with a bendable wire hot glued or even super glued to the tip. Place a meal worm on the end and dangle it around holes in fence lines. Remember alot of businesses or residential areas use pesticides. Try industrial parkways where the fence line goes forever and you will eventually find one if they are common in that area.
