How Often Do Spiders Survive Internal Injuries?

Hello all. Long time no see. I had a major scare last night (hope it's just a scare and that my girl isn't in any danger). My juvenile hogna carolinensis girl got spooked last night when I went to spritz her enclosure (on the opposite side of where she was). She started running around and trying to climb on everything in her enclosure (nothing too high) and then she just flips over her back with her legs looking like they're trying to go into a death curl. When I went to get a closer look, she had a cloudy goo coming from her mouth. I'm assuming she somehow hurt herself internally during her panic. I didn't see any indents or ruptured areas and the goo stopped coming out after a liitle bit. After about an hour, she flipped back over and kind of hobbled around her enclosure a little bit here and there. I went to check on her this morning and she's sitting on her corkbark like she always does and looks fine. If she made it through the night, do you think she'll be fine? What do you all think? Thanks in advance.

Pictures??

I will say I don't have nor have I read about many experiences that were a) witnessed and b) not a fall injury....

When was the last time you saw her acting normally? Had she been active leading up to this point? I don't know if hogna threat poses like a tarantula, or if they play dead as a defense... But for Ts, curling, ataxic movements can be signs of dehydration.

When was the last meal? Not uncommon for venom to drip during a prolonged threat pose...

It doesn't sound good, maybe pictures will leave more room to be hopeful?

Unfortunately, I don't have any pictures from last night as it took me by surprise. She was on her back with legs curling when the goo was oozing out. Definitely, wasn't a threat pose. So far, she still looks to be doing okay. I did put a horn worm in her enclosure a few days ago and it disappeared so I'm assuming she ate it. Once I'm certain she's fine, I'll probably try to give her a cricket. She seems to always eat those. I'm still checking her off and on.

A picture of her enclosure would be extremely helpful, as well as what she looks like now.

Your wolf spider was frightened, panicked and puked. Everything is fine - I had it several times at Lycosas.

Have you ever worked with Hognas? They can fall from a tree...
I work with this species for years (herped them in Spain, Croatia and Italy) and I can´t follow your thoughts.

Only it situ observations in the Arizona desert, I don't know if that is the same as herping lol.

I was trying to rule out other traumatic injuries that were not a fall:

running around and trying to climb on everything in her enclosure (nothing too high)

flips over her back

death curl

cloudy goo

I'm assuming she somehow hurt herself internally during her panic

I didn't see any indents or ruptured areas and the goo stopped coming out after a liitle bit

hobbled around her enclosure
Still leaves a giant variables like husbandry/setup namely what "everything" is in her enclosure, for example, something sharp.

Would the puke look a cloudy white? I honestly didn't see her fall on anything. She ran around and then just flipped on her back.

With my setup, I have artificial plants, some cork bark to give her places to hide under, a water dish with small rocks inside to prevent drowning, and reptisoil substrate. There's nothing for her to fall from to get hurt on that I know of. She has tried to scramble up the side of her enclosure on ocassion without getting very far during past panics and never got hurt. She was in the process of running last night when she flipped over on her back. She's been in the same enclosure with the same decor, with the exception of switching plants and cork bark to fit her slightly bigger size and make her feel less exposed, without issues. She's my third carolinensis I've owned. She's just been the one that's been the most flighty. She still seems to be doing fine. Been busy and haven't gotten around to getting pics.

I attached a pic I took a little bit ago as I was getting ready to put her new hideaway in her enclosure.

Sad, but NO injury! Mabe the "puke" was poop?

No, it came from her mouth. Unless, she ran into the side of her enclosure a little too hard, I honestly don't know how she would have gotten hurt. I'm thinking she was just too easily spooked and got too stressed. She's been my flightiest spood by far and no matter how I did her enclosure, she would start being easily startled again after a while. Idk.

Don't give up and try again. Working with true spiders is a pleasure and your Hognas are 😍.
I'm really sorry that my diagnosis was wrong!

I love wolf spiders (and other true spiders to my bf's dismay lol), especially Carolinas, and plan on getting more eventually. It just stinks that I lost her so soon and I've found them difficult to find online. I got her as a sling last year.
