How much would you pay for an AF Versicolor?

What the title says... I have a MM Caribena versicolor and I am looking to buy a mate for him. I have an offer for 100 GBP / 113 EUR / 139 USD but I have a feeling that this is a bit overpriced. What do you reckon? Price is UK-based.

In America, $140 doesn't seem unreasonable for a mature, ready to breed female. But tarantula prices are quite skewed between the two, which is why I tagged the first euro-keepers to come to mind.

You also have to take into consideration how frequently MF C. versicolors are put up for sale where you are, and how much longer it might take to find a cheaper option. If they pop up for sale frequently, no problem waiting. If they don't... Well you want to breed your male before he gets all dusty in the southern exposure.

If the price is UK based then it is a little steep.

They really fetch for 60-80gbp. Though I have seen people asking 100 now and then. An adult G. pulchra is cheaper than that.

Value is in the eye of the beholder though.

I can't remember exactly what I paid for my lass. It was as @KezyGLA typed though. Between £60-£80. I think more towards £60.

I don't see them for sale too often though.

In the tarantula groups I'm in they seem to think the going rate for a SAF versicolor is £65 and £85 for an AF.

Then again, they also seem to think unsexed 4cm G. pulchra slings are worth £40 a pop which is more than I paid for my G. iheringi at the same size before they started becoming more available in the UK.

I recently sold a proven breeder C. versicolor and a penultimate male for $250 here in the PNW

I have seen the same with the slings. I got a batch of 10x 4cm female G. pulchra late 2016 for £30 each. The price has fluctuated like crazy recently. I sold 5 adult female G. pulchra in 2017 for 70-80 gbp. One versi adult female fresh at 70 gbp.

As soon as I sold all pulchra I had people offering American prices for them.

Though as mentioned. Demand is huge factor.

Found the email. Got her January last year. Still Avicularia back then.

My advice for what it's worth is that if you can afford to spend £100 just buy her so long as she's not old. They're more than worth it.

Thanks for the feedback guys. Now that I reconsider I'm realizing that 100 GBP is worth it to me, I will be breeding so it is an investment. Now I just have to wait for milder weather :)

Someone I know was selling an adult C. versicolor for 60 Euro two weeks ago, which seems to be the going price in Germany at the moment, but I think it got snapped up pretty fast. I know another guy who has one for sale for 65 Euro at the moment, but I'm a bit hesitant to recommend him. Still, the price around here seems to be half of what you have been offered...

Price is in the eye of the beholder - it's an investment as you said, you're going to breeding so there's only going to be one winner - well hundreds of winners given a viable sac - good luck with your endeavour, I'm looking forward to see how this turns out in the long term @ThisMeansWAR

Yeah, if you can get a successful sac from her, it’ll more than make up for the price you pay. The longer you wait, the more worn out your male will be.
