I was thinking of getting some feeder mice for my 1 corn from an online source to save $ on bulk buying, but the shipping is expensive so i would rather buy quite a bit and freeze them to make my moneys worth. How long can I keep them frozen without them going bad or uneatable?

I would buy 50 frozens for my cornsnake which lasted a year. I kept them in a gallon ziplock in the freezer and they seemed to last fine.

I didn't do a before and after taste test myself, but the snake ate them with no ill effects.

I did not see any visible signs of freezer burn or degredation.

Definitely cheaper than buying them at the local pet store.

I used Rodentpro

I go to the local reptile swap and buy mine already frozen. They keep for like a year, I'm told. Put one in a watertight baggie, let it sit in hot water for 20 minutes, and you're good to go.

You can buy them pre-frozen in vacuum packs. As long you keep them well sealed while in the freezer so there is no freezer burn they'll last as long as any other meat in the freezer. Its important to keep them in a well sealed bag with much of the air removed. Glad or Ziplock has freezer bags to help prevent freezer burn.

More importantly remember to put the bag back in the freezer after you take what you need. :? I forgot to do that before leaving for a weekend away and came back to a pleasant suprise on kitchen counter.:wall:

I usually wait till the local reptile show where many suppliers sell packs of frozen feeders (and I save on shipping). Or if I'm running low before then i go to www.rodentpro.com, though there are other great suppliers just do a web search. Even if you just order one pack with the shipping its still cheaper than any petstore.
