I would like to buy a male Grammostola pulchripes. Right now it's only 1/2" legspan. (I'll buy a few and hope for a male)

How long does it take before he matures and I can mate him?

Thanks!

It depends on a variety of factors:

1. Temperature.

All biological process operate more quickly at higher temperatures (up to a point of course).

2. How often it is fed.

Tarantulas need a certain amount of energy to reach a molt, and once that energy is reached they will begin the molting process.

3. To a varying degree, how much stress it has through its life.

Happy spiders eat well, thus growing more quickly.

If you keep the dude warm, feed it often, and keep it in a stress free environment, it may mature in as little as 1.5 to 2 years.

If it is kept cooler and feed less, it may take up to 5 years.

Catch my drift?
