this is my second tarantula, first arboreal. can it bite through, especially where the ventilation holes are? it's thicker than a water bottle but still basically a plastic bottle. it's about 20 cm (8 in) high. also, i poked the holes and the edges are on the inside, is that a problem? (can it scratch?)

Try and find something that is around 2" x 2" x 4" for that size spider. Make sure the air holes aren't too big as well.

You can use the pictured setup when it gets larger.

I have successfully kept that size Psalmo including an irminia in a 16oz deli cup. I give enough dirt for them to dig a little/make dirt curtains as they get bigger

Psalmopeous are unique, less of an ambush feeder and more of a hunter....this nature, combined with their incredible speed, make them a great candidate for a larger enclosure right from the start....a 16 or even a 32oz deli cup are just fine for them...in fact I tend to go with the 32 often.

Not all ts are equal, and even though we have some basic housing "rules", we need to understand that there are exceptions to every rule....Psalmopeous is one of those NW exceptions....treat them more like an OW arboreal and give them the space.

Add ground level plants.

Heya! I'm the same person who warned you that a 2nd instar might go out through those holes, for context, haha. I wanted to add here, that you're right--if those holes are poked inward and that's the thin plastic that can get sharp, it COULD be a risk. Tarantula abdomens are pretty easy to damage. I'd run your fingers over the inside and if they are sharp at all to your skin, you could either take everything out and sand away any sharpness before putting it all back together, or just get a new enclosure. But either way yeah, my advice about contacting the seller to find out the baby's approximate actual size, and only using this one later if at all, definitely still stands! I think you have time before it'd grow into this, unless you get a larger spood to begin with.
