I live in New Mexico and have been considering catching bugs for my tarantula. Are there bugs I should avoid, or should I just stick with store-bought insects. IMG_0037.jpeg

Also I’m new!!! Never been to a forum before, I am honored to participate

With wild caught feeders... there is a lot of unknown hazards that could be introduced.
Recommend Home Grown or Store bought

Think of it this way.

Wild caught: You, eating burgers and fries with unwashed hands.
Store bought: You, eating burgers and fries after washing your hands.

Also against.

I am pro breeding native insects as feeders though. This is clean like store bought hopefully is, but also avoids the risks of exotic species naturalizing when escapes happen

It is good you asked. Wild caught has parasites. Once thise get in your tarantula, it can take a while to see and it will be too late by then.
