I was just wondering how one would go about catching some of these? I know we have them around where I live because last summer one happened to fly to a fish tank I had left outside that filled with rain water. Every now and then I see people that have quite a few of them so I wondered what the collecting techniques were with them. Does any one know of a way to go out and catch these guys?

Get a net and sweep thru the water. You can catch alot of stuff doing that

+1 to what Brian said.

i go seining with a buddy of mine every now and again. you catch all kinds of stuff, other than just minnows. we've caught turtles, dragonfly larvae, hellgrammites, water scorpions (both Nepa apiculata and Ranatra fusca), big predaceous diving beetles, etc.

you can also blacklight (the sheet method) for Abedus sp. since they actively fly searching for new bodies of water. you'll have the best luck if you do it near water of course.
