Depending on specific species, are there special requirements of any kind? My pulchra is about 1 inch after its last molt.

Hi
I class them as juvenile when they start showing adult colours. There are few exeptions from that with slings being miniature copy of their adult counterparts like C elegans and others then just when they get about 1/2 their max size.
Pulchras anything between 2-4 inch is a juvenile for me.

All immature tarantulas are juvenile, however in the hobby we like to refer to the earliest juvenile instars as "spiderlings" and the latter juvenile instars before maturity as "sub-adult". So the in-between instars are often referred to as just "juvenile". It's obviously subjective, depending on the species and the observer.

When it think it's smarter than it's parents.

There is no official standard. The generally accepted standard is when it begins showing adult coloration.

The difference between 'slings' and 'juveniles' is arbitrary and a bit subjective. I agree with what some others have said. When the spider starts showing adult coloration, then it can be considered a juvenile.
