I have two little (3" - 3.5") A. avics that I got from OlaBlane a while ago. I have come to really enjoy these little buggers. So much so, that I have another 7 Avics (2 A. versi, 3 A. purpurea and 3 A. biceogi) on the way next week. Anyway, I was looking at the smaller of the two avics today and one of them looked different. I couldn't put my finger on it, but something just didn't look right. Long story short, I finally noticed that she was missing a leg. I'm not sure how I ever missed it before, but I did. I have read so many threads about missing legs lately, I just kept thinking... "I'm glad it hasn't happened to any of my T's". Go figure. Oh well, she functions just fine, and she will most likely grow it back at some point.

I just thought it was interesting that I never noticed it before. :?

hmm

Watch the next molt; it will be interesting to see how much it regains. I'm having tons of molts right now, very cool. That big H. longipes molted- female :) whch is what I suspected, but always nice to have confirmation. Still haven't seen the P. murinus, so a molt should be coming soon.

Its okay. It will grow back. Next moult it will be back but it will look a little thinner and different from the other legs, then the moult after that you won't be able to tell that it ever lost a leg.

maybe you could put together a now (missing leg), next molt, and then following molt set of pics and post them. I know others have expressed and interest in seeing this process.

Nice to hear about the H. longpipes! You gotta love it when they molt and you get what you were anticipating. Tons of molts? I hear ya. I have had a bunch this last week. Even ones I wasn't expecting. My A. chocoana was eating like a pig, right up until the night it molted. Go figure. Love the GBB by the way!

Talk about make me feel stupid!! I never noticed it was missing a leg. They both molted 3 times for me and I thought all had gone well!!
Good luck with them and I hope you are enjoying them1!

I sure am! I have really taken to the Avic genus. I find them fascinating. Messy, but fascinating. {D
