How big?

I have a WC 2.5 inch mantid that I caught outside my work. I have been feeding it 1/4 inch crickets. Can it catch larger crickets or should I stick with the smalls? How much and how often should I feed it?

It may be able to handle larger crickets. If it can eat a large amount of crickets that size in one sitting, then I suggest feeding it larger ones. Generally I feed my mantids every two days, or whenever it's abdomen begins to look "deflated".

Mantids are pretty voracious, I'm sure it could handle crickets bigger than 1/4". As RVS said, keep an eye on the abdomen and how full it looks.

remeber the bird-eating mantid thread?i think they can handle preys almost as big as themselves or even bigger
but over feeding will just cause shorter lifespan
