I'm thinking of getting some lobster roaches since they are live bearers since I've had problems with my Lateralis Colony with ootheca drying out, molding, and losing all but about 28 or so of my Lateralis. Has anyone has success in keeping multiple species together? What problems arise from this if any?

You really should not keep two species together. One will always win out over the other. I would never recommend you keep anything with lobster roaches even if it were a good idea. Those things are hard to deal with when it come to getting them out and feeding them off because they can climb anything. Don't get me wrong they have their place but if you were going to try to get some lateralis out I think it would be a nightmare. Just my opinion. I'm sure others my have something else to say.

Sort of seems like two different questions. The first question: why did your colony die out and have the problems you have just described.

The second question is kind of unrelated to the first. Can you keep lobsters and lateralis together. Certainly I would not think of that as a solution to your die off problems. If you are concerned about mold, isopods are a better bet. For dehydration, add water and substrate.

To answer the second question directly, I'd be concerned about them eating each other's young, and as the previous poster noted, they would be more difficult to deal with, and if you ever wanted to separate them it could be a real pain.

Can't say I've ever tried keeping them together, though. Certainly some of the larger, more docile roaches have been kept together with good success. Perhaps someone who has actually tried it can chime in.
