I am getting some blaberus craniifer roaches and I was wondering if a ten gallon tank would be big enough to house the colony in?

To start with, I'm going to order 25; however I only have two tarantulas (t.blondi and b.smithi), so I really would not prefer to have an entire metropolis of a colony for only two tarantulas.

That was my problem too, I got 40 roaches, not full grown, and only 1 T, however they all got eaten before reaching maturity so no kids yet. Lol

That will be plenty big enough for 25 to start. You could easy house 500-800 comfortably in that size. I have a small colony myself in an 18qt (4.5gl) Sterilite plastic tub. When it hits several hundred I'll bump up the size.

Yeah i found that if you house bugs that make colonies in a smaller container first then upgrade when needed you find the bugs a whole wack load easier. At least for me.

I have photos of my colony on this forum, and on this other forum: www.roachforum.com

...along with other photos of details like feeding, watering, etc.

Would I need a UV bulb to house them? I'm pretty sure it isn't necessary, but I just wanted to make sure.

Not only will you need the UV light, but a heat rock and several climbing perches for them to bask on.
