I found a camel cricket and wanted to know how I can keep it as a pet?

I hear they like dark and damp places, is potting soil mixed with repti bark good, must it be kept misted with water? Does it need rotting bark and leaves to eat?

Can it be kept in my room in a dark space if it gets up to 80F? I do have a basement with some dampness but its not too damp, it has a lot of lights, is it ok if I provide hiding spaces in the tank?

They are quite omnivorous, I feed mine the same stuff I feed my roaches. Light is ok if there is plenty of furniture. If you get more, give them lots of space and food as they can be horribly cannibalistic.

Keep it on slightly damp sand. That's a female, so you may get her to oviposit....

When I've kept them, they've always been kept in tall enclosures with lots of vertical structure. Kept outside during the warmer months(it was for an exhibit), I'd get eggs and they'd hatch(NO DUH!). What's REALLY cool was that on the cooler days....all the crickets seemed to molt at the same time.....it was pretty interesting!
