Well, having been into T's for over a year now I have finally got something that I'd been thinking about for a long time: Geckos! They really are the cutest little lizards I've ever seen
. I got the first one (H. frenatus) from a local natural history centre that had it brought in by someone who found it in their suitcase after a holiday in Malaysia. The second (C. platyurus) I'd bought from a local pet shop after reading that the two species can be kept together (one gecko just seemed to be too few in my Exo terra lol). Anyway here they both are:
H. frenatus apparently a male.
C. platyurus definitely a female.
They seem to get on perfectly fine and it's quite fun to near the H. frenatus male call in the evenings. The C. platyurus is definitely a female as she's decided to lay a few eggs for me today! I have no experience with gecko eggs to be honest but as there is a possibility that she was mated (they had a small group at the shop) I've decided to put them in a small vented tub with moist vermiculite and move the tub closer to the heat mat (where it is about 83F or thereabouts). I have no idea how long the incuation period for this species is so I'll just leave them and see
. If it works then more geckos are never a bad thing
.
Anyone else here keeping these species?
