My parents are getting the house treated for termites soon. At the same time, my big G rosea is currently residing there. She is on the top floor of the house, and only the bottom is getting treated, though. Should I be worried? Any chance of anything wafting through the vents? At the moment, I have a towel drapped over her tank to impede air flow, but I dont know how well or long it will work.

can u move her?

Can you move her somewhere for a few days? I wouldn't want to take the chance. Might want to find out what the termite company is going to use and research it on the net.

Anything that is a "gas", or that even uses the term "fumigation" is a HUGE no-no. Get them out.

I have Orkin in every two months to treat every room in my house except the bug room, and that has never affected the bugs because it is a contact treatment... i.e. you have to make contact with it for it to work. Anything in the air or as a fumigant would make it's way upstairs as well, guaranteed.

I actually dont know what method they are going to be using, 'fumigation' was the first thing to come to mind. My parents say that they will talk with the Pest-control guy about it. I think I will try to stop by and pick her up. How soon after can I safely take her back?

As with Mr. Internet, we have Orkin doing every room in the house except my room, since that is where the "kids" are. Our guy also uses a contact type product.

Be on the safe side, get her moved for a while. Is there anyone on here who is in your area and could spider-sit for you? I'd probably look at leaving her elsewhere for a minimum of 4 days, maybe even a week.

I would absolutely take her out. So not worth the risk. Even if the termite guys say it's ok don't do it. They are paid to say that. I'd even keep her out for a few days AFTER you are allowed back in. T's are so much more sensitive than we with chemicals.
