Horntail

Can any one tell me about a wasp called a "Horn Tail?"

Common in Europe. They larvae live in freshly dead wood (mostly conifers - Pinus, Picea, Larix). Imago can be found on flowers. Harmless to humans.

Thanks, I appreciate that. I found mine in a (nearly) dead Norway Maple we were removing. Her ovipositor was still in the wood when we droped the tree. Poor thing.
