Ok so i found this guy buzzing around in the garage and up here in Alaska i haven't seen any wasp thing that big so i captured it and looked it up trying to identify it and i came up with California Horntail but why would it be up here in Alaska? . Anyways i stuck it in a tank with this piece of oak wood that we were building with and it proceeded to drill into the wood all day. Anyways i was reading and it stated that the larvae take two years to grow? I also saw that this other type of wasp or something that eats the eggs of horntail which i have NEVER seen one of those living up here. Id like to know if anyone has kept these or to clarify that it does take 2 years for the babies to pop out and any other information! Thanks so much for your time and help!
