One of my two Phormictopes canceroides, Muffin, hooked out recently. He is the prettiest blackish brown with purple tinting. He is super handle-able, and active, which is weird, since Phormictopes canceroides are supposed to be horrible and grumpy apparently. My other one is also handle-able. I expected both to be male, however.

Why I am bummed...well, Velvet, my Brachypelma albopilosum that I was sure was female, hooked out. I am so totally bummed out. Part of me wants to ship them both out for breeding, but I have never shipped before and am scared. :wall:

I am totally bummed by this. :(

Shipping really isn't as bad as it seems, if you do it right :)

Ending up with males is part of the hobby.. but that doesn't mean, it doesn't suck when it happens :(

Yeah, I know what you mean... I am soo lucky that one of my most favourite Ts ended up being female, or else I would have been pretty broken up over it.

I was always under the assumption that my most favourite is male... and I thought he was pentultimate awhile back, but now no one has a clue what he is ventrally and I can't get an intact molt from him... so we'll see. It's gonna be a hard day if/when I walk in and he's hooked out :(

Our H. mac, which we both thought was female, emerged the other day a mature male. Luckily we were able to find him a date in like two hours, haha.

My favourite T has been a MM since the end of September. Mackenzie's going to need to do a lot of consoling the day he dies. I'm not looking forward to it in the least.

Man, that's rotten luck. Our A. metallica, my favorite and the one that finally burst that dam and got me into Ts; hooked out last year. We seriously considered just keeping him and letting him live out his life in the enclosure we had made for him, but decided that allowing him to breed was a better idea.

Shipping is not hard, as long as you do the proper research about it. If you are shipping in cold temps though, you will need a heat pack. Not Hot Hands, or any heat packs they sell at Walmart; but heat packs made for shipping animals. They aren't that expensive to buy, but we had to buy in bulk and now have tons of heat packs. I guess if we ever breed, they could come in handy!:D
