I have a few bee hives and today I saw honey bees from some where else trying to rob(steal the honey) one of my hives. The bees stood guard over the hive entry attacking the invading honey bees and the ground was littered with the dead. It was very interesting to see this i have never seen anything like it before. I never saw the end of the war because it went on forever and i had stuff to do.
I also found a hive hanging in a tree today and i moved it to a hive box so they now have a nice new home. I am thinking since the hive was small yet it must have recently swarmed and started a new hive. For those of you how do not no what a swarm is it is a group a bees that leave with the queen when it is to crowded splitting the one hive into two when they swarm they have to make another queen so thier one for each colony. Bee Keepers do not want their hives to swarm because then they wont make as much honey but if your lucky the swarm can be caught and put in a different hive box when they rest on a branch near the hive before they leave.
