Homemade bug stop

This is an interesting trick I learned in an ant farming forum. It's a very simple recipe of "Bug Stop": mix 96º alcohol and talcum powder until you have a white liquid, then soak a piece of sponge with this mix and paint with it a band in the inside of the tupperware or recipient you're using for your glass climbing insects. The alcohol is going to evaporate leaving a very slim coat of talcum. It's so nice that can stop even fruit flies (it's fun how they fall in the moment they touch the band). The bad new is that it isn't water resistant and if you touch it disappears, but it's so cheap you can repaint everyday.
Hope you all find it helpful.

I'll have to try that, I hate using vaseline, it gets disgusting and is a real pain to clean when the time comes.

Thanks!

Nothing, if you try it with glass-climbing roaches, could you post the experience, please? My two species of roach are non-climbers, dubias and Shelfordella tartara, but if it works well for climbers I could think the addition of a pair of species to my collection. One of the disadvantages (the weakness) can be a advantage at the time of cleaning if you think about it ;) .

I don't know what "bady powder" is, but talcum powder is the white powder used for skin irritations, specially in babies.

LOL @ own typo. Some kinda powder used by badies perhaps?

OK I found an alternative, here I quote the Australian Herp Shop on the use of "Fluon":

The other alternative is to paint on a product called Fluon AD1. This is painted around the inner upper area of the container and the insects will not be able to climb pass it. This product is available from The Herp Shop in 350ml containers @ $25.00. This would last the average user several years. The application of the Fluon is explained on the labeling.

Hi genious_gr, as I told in my first post, I tried it with fruit flies and it works pretty well, but if you can try it with glass-climbing roaches, you know... ;) post it.

now, just to get this straight in my mind.
are we talking about:
1. Talcum, ie. Calcium Carbonate

or

2. Baby powder, which i have discovered, being new to the West side of the Atlantic, is Cornstarch (Cornflour to the European side)

:?
