I caught a home spider (I think it is a yellow sac spider, Canada), put it in a glass jar, and it covered itself under the web layer. Does that mean he prepares to molt, or is it just a regular way to live for this spider?

We have this spider in our house and they do make little tents to rest in.
Our ceiling has faux exposed beams.
The yellow sac spiders will make the web shelters in the angles.
And I've seen the webs with spiders in them and some that seem to be abandoned.

I had yellow sac spiders in my plants (Canada) and they do tend to make tents like webs as shelter
if you're planning on keeping it for a long time you should add decor so it can climb and feel at ease because this looks kind of empty
