Well, around October I found a P. Audaux ouside in my carport and decided to feed it to my C. Vitattus(scorpion) well, it was just the two of them in a 10 gallon tank so the audaux didn't have a hard time keeping away. I found out she was mature and also found the sex, but I didn't expect her to lay eggs. She died two days ago and to my surprize there are spiderlings coming out of her web she made. I didn't even know she laid those eggs.

So basically, I think I've seen at least 10 hanging around in the nest. I'm not sure what to feed them or even do with them. I'm sure they'll have no problem living with the C. Vitattus. I'm considering letting a few go back out in the wild. But I'd like to keep at least one. At such a young age, what should I feed them?

Fruit flies will work very well, esp the smaller breed of ff. If they are not fed, you'll end up with just one.

Or, none.
And, you should not feed wild caught prey to your captive breed arachnid. It's definitely not cool to feed away a jumper. :embarrassed:

aside from the fact that WC predators tend bioaccumulate toxins (pesticides etc) i don't think it is wrong at all. likely jumpers are a part of a vit's natural diet in the wild

I'm quite aware about mixing captive bred and wild caught, everything in that tank, rocks, tree stump, catcus, etc I found from wild areas around where I live. I don't buy food for the species that live in there, I catch its food.

As for my emperator tank, I buy everything I put into it, rocks, vegitation, food, etc

No harm here.

thanks for the info though.

p.s. I, by a miracle, was able to find a new born cricket. It practically crawled to my feet! So I gutted it a little and stuck it on the nest and I don't think they're very interested. I did get a very big response when I simulated rain though. They were thirsty. :)

It depends on where you live. I feed WC prey in the Summer and have been doing so for several years

JP, You better invest in a fruit fly culture if you want to successfully raise them. That is the only thing I could ever get small Jumpers to accept
