Hey all

So my beautiful little olive green bug decided to make an eggsac today. Crazy thing is, it just molted. I know the eggsac is infertile, since she hasn't been bred and really isn't sexually mature yet, but i'm just wondering if its been anyone else's experience to have this happen.

It's pretty cool considering i had this one made for a boy. Its hard since they're a small species anyways, and they tend to shred the molt.

anyways,
let me know.

she hasn't even been mated... i've only had a couple Ts make eggsacs with no breeding. kind of interesting to say the least. I wish this was fertile. I'd love 30 H.incei slings. Such a cool beautiful species ;)

sorry for the bad quality of the pics, i didn't want to disturb this little lady -- i know 4 eggsacs that have been eaten due to the mother being disturbed.

but anyways.

she's skinny as all get out. i'm perplexed.
anyways
i half want to snatch it from her to see what the deal is...

;)

haha you're still good in my book deifiler!

as for the H.incei, i've noticed they tend stick around the 4" range. Keep in mind that eggsac is no bigger than my thumb tip... its really small... but they're GREAT T's! in the words of a good friend on here "i love the dwarf species".

they're cool as all get out.
i'm sure its infertile, but she def. was bred before she molted,

i'm just wondering if there's ANY way possible for a T to store some sperm after a molt. I know pedes can, and i'm just not sure about Ts. I know we always say "no, they can't" but, still.. we used to say that Ts couldn't do alot of things, and look where we are now...

I've asked a couple of the "big players" in the T world (;) ) and they've all said that its not IMPOSSIBLE for a T to drop a sac after a molt, and they're just not sure. so we'll see....

This eggsac could possibly become a highly touted eggsac one day in the T-world ;P

im just joshin, but we'll see what happens. I'm not going to pull it, and i'm going to leave it with the mother.

hope for the best!!

cos, H.incei slings for all if its fertile!!! =D

p.s- Nixy, after my hockey game, we'll chat about the E.campestratus eggsac. I've got a ton of eggsacs to care for now, so maybe I'll just send you my lady and you can take it on, if thats cool.

Dave, keep the eggsac or at least let your girl give mommy-hood a try because I *THINK* there are extremely, once-in-a-blue-moon, rare cases in which an unmated female can produce a fertile eggsac... any of you experts out there care to confirm?

Hey there

we won the game ;)

and i'm letting her try out motherhood...

anyways, i've been asking around, and from what i can cull from the "experts", the jury's still out on the sperm-shedding deal.

No-one's said a definitive answer. And at this point, i'm thinking anyone that says "no, it definitely can't happen" is a fool... again, i'm *thinking*. ;)

its just so hard to say "yes, 100%, there's NO possible way"... cos i'm sure it could happen.

again, i'm like 99% sure its infertile, but its odd.
After talking to Paul, i agree, I think that these guys can reach sexual maturity FAR sooner than we "think" they can.

thanks!

infertile

there have been cases where rattle snakes have given birth (1) with out ever been mated, so who knows with the rest of the animal kingdom. be pretty cool if the egg sac, is fertile tho.

as for mating.. well,

wait...nevermind, i should move what i was going to post over to the watering hole... before i get beat down ;)

at any rate, i'm going to give it a shot. I have to say that there's a distinct possibility that it is fertile. I'm going to double check on the mating before i start doing anyting. The guy i got it from said she was mated before, but the thing that doesnt make sense to me is this:

she's only about 2".. MAYBE 2.5", but def. around the 2" area.
She's molted once with me (a month ago) and she gained .5". So she was 1.5" or below when she was mated. I don't *believe* she would have mated with a fully mature male, but then again, now we're delving into unknown T-territory (as we so often do here ;) )....

she may not have been mated. He may have just said that.
i didn't take any stock when he said that, since it didnt matter. i mean i always said 'if she lays an eggsac, then its cool. no big deal if not'..

but now i stand on that bridge, so we'll see!

the eggsac looks nice and full. i've notice that some of the infertile eggsacs I've had (very few i must say) have always looked wrinkled and loose. I can't explain that :)
