Hello everybody!
I am looking for an easy way to catch Hogna wolf spiders.
I've seen people go out in the dark with a flashlight but I don't believe that this is an effective way to go hunting for one of those things.
Do you know a better way?
Have you caught one before?
Let me know!
I'd appreciate your opinion.

It depends where you are looking. Even during the day under leaves and stones you can easily find them. You can find Hogna Radiata on Samothraki, as well as Lycosa preagrandis...

I'll probably look for them at my village which is surrounded by mountains and plains.
But, is there any chance I could find them in a city's park or at my back yard?

Yes, there is a chance. You should ask for a place where anybody else saw one before.
They stay true to their territory...

Why don't you like the method of hunting with a flashlight in the dark?
I prefer using a headlamp to keep my hands free, and using a very large catch cup with a lid (I used a large tub that kimchi came in). In the dark, it's hard to be precise when you swoop in with a catch cup, so using something with a large mouth helps a lot. Then prod with the lid into the tub. I've caught very many this way. Since there were also many that escaped down into the grass, it was important to find an area with a high population density to maximize the number caught. For me, that was an area with wild grass near the edge of a forest. I think it should not be very difficult. Good luck to you 👍

Headlamp at dusk. The eyes shine green right back at you, can't miss them. Flashlight is worthless unless you hold it on your forehead or chin, the reflection angle has to be direct.
