Hogna mating

Found these wolf spiders mating on a tree trunk. I believe them to be Hogna helluo. Legspan about 1.25".







Coitus interuptus (I poked the male until he jumped off so I could get a shot of the female)

Looks like Gladicosa pulchra to me, but not certain.
They are known for hanging out on tree trunks.

Looking at Bugguide, it does look like Gladicosa is a closer fit. Majority of these are on the forest floor. About 1 in 10 is found in the trees, although I have found them where they were mainly in the trees.
