and thear breeding like mad... i have no idea what to doo. not only that, i need to get rid of some of them! i probly dont even need to buy crickets any more, i got so many roaches... i just dont like that thay climb glass, and can easly escape from the terrariums..
i dont wana just smash them ill probly donate some to pet co to get rid of...

my other problem is i need to clean the terriurum, its been a good 6 months probly.. posibly a bit less but all of them poop, alot... and i allso got 3 millies in the tank.. its a 20 gallion long just so u know.
so if any one whould like a few for free, let me know.. im not sure how much s and h will be but if ur willing to pay for just shiping u get as many as u can handel.. most are small tho, and i have eveen got one runing free in my room... allso

i got 1 majorly important question! i know hissers keep egg cases inside them selfs, and give live birth... but i found this realy strange egg case in my terrarium, about 1 and a half inches, to 2 inches in lengith, a whitish yelloish collour.. its in a strand, not a clump or any thing... ill post a pic asap

The picture is of an aborted egg case.

What temperature are you keeping the roaches at? Lower temperatures slow down reproduction.

If you need to bring the population down you can:

Offer free hissers for shipping cost as you have done
or
Put excess in a container in the freezer overnight.

Definitely lower the temperatures! We have hissers at the entomological museum here on my campus and they still manage to breed even though they're kept at room temperature, though it doesnt happen often.

To help cleaning, stick the roach container outside overnight. Your temps in Katy will be above freezing, so they won't die on you. This will slow them down a lot. You can do the cleaning in the bath tub which will help contain escapees. A shopvac or dustbuster is a help cleaning out all the frass and poop. However, this may compromise what you want to use that vacuum for in the future.

If you transfer the roaches to another deep container (like your kitchen garbage can sans bag) with a hide, that will hold them temporarily while you get their regular abode clean.

Have fun! It's about on par with changing a poopy diaper or cleaning up cat barf except it takes longer.

You can take the millipedes out while chilling the roaches.

If you want to slow your hissers down, keep them at room temperature. You can also periodically thin out your colony by selling off some or freezing the excess.

I kept my hissers at 85-88F, but I was interested in them reproducing.

Hissing roaches,Out of Control!

Is there a "Swapmeet" in town? Many towns do have them.Although you may think that a typical swapmeet's advertised REPTILE show would not concern an invertebrate fancier many of the patrons buy, trade, and place orders for many more feederbugs than reptiles. Please visit one and check it out.

If you find no local swapmeet you might overhaul local pet stores in search of one that features reptiles, frogs and/or large tarantulas that might appreciate a bigger bug than crickets and mealworms.

And you might also consider placing ads:starting with "Arachnoboards."

Please reconsider "debreeding" your bugs before you have thoroughly checked things out-if someone WANTS to place a standing order you will
want your bugs to be "well warmed up"!!!

the only hissers you should feed off are the small ones
under 2 inches
i will take any unwanted roaches
ANY
i hate people that freeze hissers
there are better uses for them
worst come to worst fund someone that has a black or whitethroat monitor or even just a savannah to feed them to

You know, I've never once cleaned my colony of Lobster roaches...they have several inches of soil substrate, so all of their waste just sort of mingles with that. No smell, and I'm not allergic. Cleaning a tank is really an aesthetic thing, and I highly suggest giving them some natural dirt as substrate. You'll never notice their droppings and need only clean the glass walls to see them.
