Hissing Roach Nymphs

Good morning,

I’m super excited, yet a bit worried after my hissing roaches had babies.

I was curious if anyone had experience with these bugs giving birth.
Are the newly born nymphs supposed to be motionless and rather incomplete metamorphosis.?

It is now day 2.

I expected them to be up and moving closely behind the mother.

Perhaps this is normal in this species, but I am trying to find out if I should remove them or not.

Thanks!

I think that these ones are deceased. It seems like the number of babies here is a bit small for a whole clutch so there might be siblings who survived running around your enclosure.

Thank you both for confirming that. Such a bummer 😫

im gonna look through the substrate, but I kind of already poked around and don’t see anything.

is there anything specific I could have done that would cause still births? The mother in question is new to the colony, so I haven’t actually had much time to really do anything myself, but what could potentially cause this? Is it just a thing that happens here and there for any species, or did something cause this?

I doubt there was anything you did.
Stuff happens, that's life.
But that condensation seems odd.

i tho7ht they liked very high humidity + warmth, but I’m starting to feel like that may or may become an issue.

I just moved them to a setup very similar to my Dubia colonies (which are doing so well, they’re breeding faster than I can feed them off).

Would a Dubia like setup work for these in your opinion?

Yes. I have a few large colonies. All of them are dry, bare bottom bins with eggcrate and screen lid. They breed just fine for me in those conditions.
