My hissing cockroach was on the side of her terrarium a few moments ago, responsive and everything. I came back to her terrarium and now she has fallen onto her back and is not moving anything but her antennas. She is not curled into a death position and doesn’t have any visible injuries, but I am worried that the fall might’ve hurt her. I picked her up and put her back onto her stomach and she didn’t even try to get away from me or struggle like she usually does. There is plenty of food in the terrarium, I just sprayed it down, and it is room temperature (around 65 degrees F). I can’t think of why she isn’t moving since the fall was barely a few inches off the ground? Any help would be appreciated.

How old is she? Is she gravid? The best way to test their viability is to pick them up and test their grip. If they still hold body weight then they should be okay. Increase the temp to mid 70s. They are similar to us. When you are cold, muscles are harder to move. Warmer temps, faster metabolism, quicker movement. This does not mean put it into a 200 degree area to create fusion. Mid to high 80s is a max temp. I shake tons of gravid and non gravid females into a bin and they do fine. If she looks like she is on her last legs and you can't isolate her, then the others will eat the legs off her and she will starve. Don't let that happen. Put her in the freezer so she doesn't suffer.

It's very hard to kill a hissing cockroach from a fall, even if they land on their back. More likely she's old or cold and having trouble gripping. Warm the room up either way.

Most of mine have died from old age and none of them curled up. They were in a natural rest position, as though they'd rested their body down as they were walking/standing. They slow down, they get a bit less coordinated, and then they stop to rest.

Thanks for all of your help, unfortunately she did pass away last night. I think it was because of old age or accidental poisoning, I gave them an apple from the super market not thinking anything of it and she was the only one I saw eating from it. I think it might have had pesticides on it.
