Hey all! I have a male hissing cockroach who has begun to move his abdomen up and down. Is this a normal behavior that I may have just not seen before? Or is this something to be concerned about? Thank you!

I don't have experience with hissers, so take this with a grain (or two) of salt. My adult male dubia roaches will wiggle and pulse their abdomens around as a social behavior/mating display. I have an overflow tank for the males when the M:F ratio gets out of wack, and even if there are no females present the males wander around wiggling at each other! It would make sense to me if hissers did something similar.

Of course, if you could get videos of the behavior you're talking about that would be very helpful!

I did try to get a video but he stopped whenever the camera came out. He just lost his little friend, a male that he was very fond of. There are a few beetles in his enclosure, but he never seemed to pay much attention to them.
