I have about 100 baby hissers I'm slowly feeding to my T's. I have them separate from the adults in a plastic tub next to my computer router. I've noticed they seem to like the radiation, or radio waves the router produces because they all sit on the side of the tub as close to the router as they can. If I move the router, in a few hours they are all next to it again. The router is about 4 inches from the tub. It doesn't produce any heat I can detect and it doesn't have any lights facing the tub. Has anyone done any studies on radiation and how it night attract hissers?

All computer routers (and other electrical devices) produce some amount of heat that is detectable to a roach (while it may or may not be to a human). The roaches will instinctively congregate in that direction ordinarily.

You could probably put a small heat source on the other side of the tub and test out your and Matt's respective theories.

Later tonight I'll post a pic of the hissers near the router. And I think I will test the heat idea, but if the router is producing heat from four inches and through the plastic, it must be a very tiny amount. I can feel absolutely nothing, but I suppose the hissers can.

Interesting observation however it turns out. You could probably check with a laser temp gun, but that could turn out to be an expensive way to test a theory.

Keep us posted. A micro difference in temps was my first thought as well, but something in the electrical field itself could also be the culprit...

I can't detect by touch a temperature difference, but the router is warm to the touch. The room is 68 degrees so it probably is a very slight temperature difference. Here are some photos.

Well....since Matt has forgotten more about roaches than most of us will ever learn....I'm going to have to agree with him.
There has got to be some discernible heat emitting that the hissers are appreciating.
Give them a heat source of their own and they will propagate and thrive for you. ;)

Well, I don't know about the forgotten part. I am just an ordinary roach nerd. :)
