In my hisser colony that I have had for two years now I have noticed on several occasions that several of them have the ends of their legs missing, bitten off I assume, I provide them with dog food for protein. Anybody else witness this?

That is usually a sign that either the container is too small for the colony or there aren't enough hiding places for them to stake out their own little territory.

Try catfood it's higher in protein and reduce the size of the colony (or get a larger container). I reduce the size of my colony drastically about 1 time per year.

Thanks guys, I used to use cat food but the turin in it made there poop smell almost like ammonia. I will reduce the size of the colony. As far as hiding places they have plenty. Thanks again.
