Yes, that sounds normal. It means your roaches are well-hydrated and healthy.

-xelda and crashergs: thank you very much for your help and hints. I was worried about this behaviour, but I´m more easy now with this good information about the actual health state of my hisser roaches.
-Thank you, best regards.

Dont roaches (especially pest species) taste food and if they dont like it they will spit it out? I heard this is the reason why it is so hard to kill off colonies of pest roaches with poison roach bait, they eventually learn whats bad to eat by taste or smell, and make sure food is ok before swallowing.

Mabye the water thing is just them tasting or drinking and realizing they arent thirsty?

It's hard to kill off roaches with poison because roaches are able to develop immunities to some types of toxins. This is often the case with a lot of pest invertebrates like mosquitoes. They reproduce at such a fast rate, you get multiple generations that increase the odds of mutations and immunities to develop not long after a new pesticide's been put on the market. Research into these kinds of topics are what most university entomology departments deal with. You'd like to think people are there because they want to learn more about bugs, but the funding relies heavily on pest management.

As for the hissers, they're very "juicy" roaches. You could just hold one in your hand and it'll seem to breathe water on you. Flip them on their back and you can see the fluids moving where their legs meet their body (where the mites like to tuck themselves). There's been at least one study done that shows this is how hissers are able to preserve body water, by merely staying clustered together in groups of at least six. Now, if you keep the hissers in dry conditions and only offer a piece of apple once a week, they won't die but their bodies will usually feel more dry.

-Hello, my hisser roaches take water directly from carrot potato and apple slices, but I dont sprayed their habitat (maybe I would spraying for improving conditions?) or I dont put liquid water for drink purposes, and I keep their cage ever in dry conditions and without substrate (maybe I would change this for improving conditions?). But this spiting behaviour is frequent in my roaches which finally may be good.
-Thank you, best regads.
