I got home from work today and couldn't see my P. Regalis in her enclosure.

It took me 5 solid minutes of scouring the cage until I found where she was. Can you see her?

LOL. I didn't see her there until I picked the cage up to look *real* close. I was starting to think she'd escaped!

yea, mine has done that once. Also, crickets will go up there and hide behind the wall foam. I had to block it off so they wouldn't.

Looks really nice! Gotta come up with some way to make such backgrounds myself... I wonder what paint would be best to use...?

Yeah it had me sweatin, that's for sure. Funny thing was I just got this cage, and a day earlier a very small cricket had escaped from it (found jumping on the floor) so I just assumed that it had squeezed through the sides of the exo terra cage, but didn't think the T would get through. Then when I couldn't find her I thought 'oh no, there is an escape hole somewhere in this cage' and then lifted it up to look at the bottom corner and that's when I spotted her.

Cirth these backgrounds come with all the exo terra stuff, but it's only made from polystyrene. You could buy a big block of it, shape it with a craft knife and paint it with non-toxic paint designed for kids rooms. It would look awesome.

Cirith Ungol,

I remember a few years ago that Krylon or maybe Rustoleum brand spray paint had invented a stone mimicking spraypaint that looked similiar to granite or sandstone for example, that had small bumps in the paint so that it had texture and all....

Perhaps get a piece of styrofoam, rough it up a bit so it had different facures (cut chunks out of it or glue stuff to it) and then coat it with the spraypaint. I assume if you let it dry well and air off, it is probably not too dangerous to a T.

I was checking out a snake terrarium today which had a handmade background. Background color had been applied to the styrofoam cut out background, and while the paint was wet the builder had strewn peat moss and sand over the surface. It looked really really nice!

When I first got my rosehair, first T, I walked in the bedroom and looked in the cage. Nothing, felt my heart stop, then inspected closer and saw her hidding. I have had a few snakes escape and it makes you do a double take if the cage appears empty. {D
