Looking at this T never gets old. Personally, I regard this species as one of the most excellently marked tarantulas around.

Hope you like. :)

Yes, nice pics indeed. I'm guessing this is one of those times you can count on your hand that you've gotten a good look at the beauty. I haven't gotten a good look at mine since March when I intentionally chased it out for a photo. I know it's moulted since then so I'm going to have chase it out again one of these days for another photo session. Het. macs are beautiful but secretive doesn't begin to describe them ime.

Thanks! :)
Yeah, I had to kind of herd her out and she was pretty calm for the most part. She is in a small petpal so it hasn't been too difficult to get a view of her. She just molted earlier this week though and will be going into a bigger enclosure today so sightings will likely be more scarce as soon as she settles in.

Dude, I'm glad you found your Togo. I just read that you found it behind a poster. What a relief huh? LOL You should name your Togo "Nomad". ;)
The one in my pics is almost 3".

Sweet picture man! Why don't you get a tatoo of it Atrax?

What's the deal with some Maculatas being brown in colouration as oppose to the lovely white contrasted with black? Are all Mac's eventually white?

The best maculata pic ever is the one someone posted on here, on their arm. It's the best spider photo I've seen so far... eeee!

Anyway, the story was it was an escapee mac' that got lost, then found dehydrated so she picked it up. Dunno if that rings any bells...

:D

Oh yeah, I forgot to say how much the idea of a centipede in your lug'ole rocks :D Wow how old are you? I had you down as around 25 years old? Sorry if that seems offensive in anyway

Man, whilst on the subject that beard is demon :) How long has it been growing for?

mine right now is basically the same color as Atrax's minus the little creme color blotches, its like a dark grey color with black marking, its alittle less then 2 inches i have read they usually start getting the whitish creme colors after 2 inches and then when they hit adulthood there whole bodys turn to that cool looking whitish color.

I know exactly which pic you're talking about now. You're right, that pic was awesome.

I'm a site past 25 (31). Would I be offended that you guessed 25? Hell no! :}

she's dead as a doornail, thanks for asking!
Here's another handling pic, a bit safer this time. Died of unknown causes, but she was never 'right' after her escape. Near the end, she refused to eat (or couldn't) and couldn't control her legs. She's going to REISM one of these days, she's in deep freeze now.

I hope that you know that I was messing with you! I thought it was funny, (you asking about her, not her dying!)but am not sure that it came across in my post that way ;)
I'm hoping that Kerry can find something that points to a cause of death.

HAha, of course I knew you were kidding! I'm not that fragile! *sob, snif* ;P

How long ago did you send it to Kerry? I'd definitely like to hear the details when you find out if you don't mind.

H. Maculata's are amazing T's. Mine doesnt hide very much anymore and I can almost always see her. This is definately one T that you have to see in person to appreciate.

I've never seen a brown one, in person at least. Mine was always bright white.

Here's a picture from the last day I had her. One of those rare viewing chances ;)
