Hey! I'm sitting at an internetcafe in Bangkok, waiting for the bus to Laos to show up.

My goal is to go out looking for the worlds largest true spider, Heteropoda maxima. They get big!!! Adult famales reach 25-30 cm(10-12")I won't be disapointed if I don't find any, other Heteropoda sp are very common around there as well. So let the hunt begin...

I'll keep you updated.

to my knowledge the males can reach that legspan, but females stay smaller.

BTW they have been found in caves.

Hi, here's a little update. After several hours walking in the jungle(daytime) today I found alot of nice inverts. Most of them were smaller spiders but I also found a few bigger ones after seeing holes in the ground with webbing around. I didn't find any Tarantulas though. I came to a smaller mountain on the hillside there was a kind of big huntsmanspider, about 12-14 cm eating on a cricket. Just as I was supposed to take a picture of it just ran of and I din't get any pics of it.

I hope I have better luck tomorrow..

I've been to a really big cave, but didn't find anything living there. A few dead and dried millipedes, that's all...
