Yup! I FOUND HIM! :D WOW!! A week and a half on the lam & I can't believe that I actually found him! It's been 45 minutes & my heart is STILL pounding!

There I was laying in bed telling myself that I've got to go to sleep since I have to work in the am, figured I'd go grab something to drink, walked up to where is old cage use to be (it's on the way to the kitchen), thought I saw something small & white on the floor next to the wall, slowly slide back to grab a flashlight & sure enough ~ There he was! Of course he booked it back behind a shelf ~ But I pulled the shelf out & grabbed the little monkey! Praise Buddha!! (lol)

I've got a new problem now... He is extremely underweight. What would be the best way to safely get him to gain weight back? I gave him a couple crix & of course some CGD in his viv tonight. I attempted to hand feed but he wasn't havin that. I'm guessing that I should just try to get him back into a routine... since he's so underweight would it be better to keep it at every other day to maybe every 2 days? My thinking is, like after someone is found stranded somewhere, they don't just gorge or automatically start eating regularly ~ It takes time. Am I on the right track so far or is it just my pounding heart & nerves gone nutzo right now?

I'm thinking Stubby needs a new name ~ Can anyone think of something 'authentic' that has to do with escaping or exploring?

Here he is about a week before he 'broke out'

Here he is now :(

I know how you feel, I had a leopard gecko that was missing for 8 months. Her tail was a little thin, but otherwise OK.

Gulliver!! :D Stubby looks fine! Really... he's not as skinny as some I've seen missing and then returned. Keep CGD available to him for a few straight days... he can eat at leisure... he knows what he needs, and then taper him back off to every other day or every 3rd day, with it cooling down now. Offer him a water dish.. even though he may not use it... and mist heavily. He's likely very dehydrated, too.

I'm very familiar with that heart racing effect... but it subsides after a couple or three hours {D It's got to be a "Mother" thing.

Congratulations on finding your fella!!

and such...
For some reason this phrase never fails to make me see red and want to break things.

OP, massive congrats on finding your little nomad! I've only had one escape ever, and I didn't even know it had happened until I woke up at 6 AM on a Saturday to a very cold and confused baby ball python trying to burrow under my leg. I can't imagine having such a little thing lost in the house for that long, I'd go nuts with worry.

i wish i could say it has oly happened to me once.It has happened at least once a year since i have kept reptiles no matter how nice of a cage i put them in.Last years was a $3000 dwarf burmese python.it does stink.I am glad to hear you found. Some are never seen again.(i have gotten rid of all reptiles since then, concentrating on inverts)

It's a Crested Gecko ;) I've got 4

How 'bout Stubby Gulliver or Stubby Nomad? :D

I like Stubby, personally.. but then, one of my favorite fellas is a frogbutt...

You might want to get him some waxworms. Waxworms are really fatty, but after his escape, a few of them shouldn't hurt.

That thing is cute (hope I'm allowed to say that since I'm a guy)

I remember when I lost my nile monitor in my room, I swear, for a big monitor like him he sure hides well. He was gone for two days, I checked my room high and low. It was on the third day that I heard something and it was him and that was the only way that I caught him.

My room is extremely small too and we're talking about a 2FT lizard...My room is the size of my GF's extra storage room. My room was pretty empty too so even till this day I still don't know where he could have hidden...

Usually when u catch them out they're tired, dehydrated, and not eating. When I caught my monitor, I just let him chill around for awhile in the bathtube and after awhile after he relaxed he started taking food again and it became all better.

Thats with me, i've never kept the specimen you have there, so I'm just referring to my experiences with a monitor in this situation.
