Anybody ever deal with this condition?

My kitty Sassy was diagnosed with this yesterday after a mountain of bloodwork to rule out other possible conditions (bloodwork is freakin expensive!).

I'm having a terrible time getting her to eat, and she needs the calories to get well. She ate a few bites of a prescription canned food at the vet's yesterday, and a few bites when I got home. Today she's eaten about 6 bites, but she needs to eat more.

Any ideas on stimulating her appetite? A product called VitaFerret was suggested to me, as it is an appetite stimulator, and has loads of calories. I'm on my way out to the store right now to pick some up.

If I can't get her to consume enough food, she's going to need a feeding tube....

Hepatic Lipidosis

And apparently, someone thought it would be cute to shoot at her before I got her (she was living outside then), as when the vet shaved her leg to draw the blood, he found two BBs in her leg.

Crystal, I'm sure you've heard of it before, just under the common name "fatty liver disease."

Leanne, what a rough experience for both you and your cat. She's beautiful by the way. You might want to make sure she's got some of her normal food available too. I know my cat generally likes to stick with what he's used to.

My girl's doing much better now! She's eaten a half a can of this prescription food in the past two days, I've given her more but she's been on my lap the past few hours. It's so nice to see her personality returning, rather than having a shell of a cat hiding under my bed.
