I'm 95% sure these arnt the same species but I'd like to get some input. I can tell there's differences so it's making me wonder now. I didn't really take a good look since he told me they were the same but now after looking I think they might not be. He wants to mate them but this may not be a case.

could be a pretty obvious image but I just want to 100% on this.

The first one is likely Heterometrus spinifer. The other one is Heterometrus silenus. Clearly not the same species.
He should not be attempting to breed them together.
Also, they both look female to me based on the chelae, so if that's the case he would have a hard time anyway.

I had a strong feeling this is the case. I won't name who sold him them but I was worried about this scenario. Good looks and thank you @Joey Spijkers
