Okay so im a new cornsnake owner.
I toke him in as he was unwanted, ive always been abit afraid but i have a soft spot for animals.
My boy wont eat. Ive read so much that im guessing hes abit stressed as hes moved home and striked for me yesterday. I bought him a hide out today and hoping that helps. I have only sucsessfully fed him once, the day he moved in. Ive tried feeding him twice 5 days apart. his eyes went milky blue so was hoping it was due to shedding but he only shed 3 weeks ago and hes 5yrs old. His eyes cleared yesterday so was wondering is he ill? Should i leave it another few days and try to feed him again now he has a better hiding place or get a vet out? Any info will help and be appreciated. Just want my boy to be happy:(

Yeah he hasnt ate the mouse again and abit of his skin has come off on the middle of his body. So its not a normal shed. Thanks

Can you show pics. Have you tried live mice or braining the frozen thawed mouse. By the sounds of it it sound like you don’t know much about your pet and it should have a heat pad if not all ready. It might be scale rot in which you have to take it to the vet.

Pics would be very helpful. Could well be shedding again. Snakes can shed quickly in succession at times.

There are a lot of techniques you could try like brainingthe frozen mouse or trying live.

Temps? Bedding? Humidity? Corns need multiple hides, and your having just got one leaves some questions about how your corn is kept.

his eyes went milky blue
There's only one reason I know for that: the snake is preparing to shed.

1. step: new skin forms
2. step: old skin gets separated from the new skin by a thin layer of fluids. This layer makes the eyes appear milky blue
3. step: The fluid gets re-absorbed. The eyes turn clear again.
4. step: The snake actually sheds.

In an adult snake it can take a week or longer from step 3 to step 4!!! Further, the old skin will only be loosely attached to the snake and come off when you rub her or the snakes rubs too hard against stuff during this time. It's not good if it comes off before the snake is ready, though, because it's an entry point for bacteria. Therefore snakes usually become very lethargic before a shed.

Absolutely everything you describe points to a snake preparing to shed, no matter when her last shed was.

Leave the snake alone! Don't handle it, don't feed it and don't take it a vet. Just leave it alone!! If it hasn't shedded two weeks from now you can start worrying.

My rat snake's eyes clear and then a week can pass before he actually sheds. I agree with boina, leave it be and wait a couple of weeks. I usually wait a couple days post-shed to feed, but I don't really have anything on which to base that habit.
