Some one asked me to identify the species of "bug' in the attached photos. He found these in a shipment of superworms he recently received from a national distributor and came to me for ID since I also raise supers myself. However, I have never seen any of these specimens in my colonies.

They appear to be a worm stage of some sort of beetle, but that's just a guess.............can anyone help positively ID what species/common name these are?

Thanks in advance for your assistance.

I'm no expert, but my first guess would be some sort of dermestid larvae.

If you'd like a 100% sure ID, pull out the largest of those larvae, put them in a small container with a piece of mulch, wood, styrofoam, etc, and let them pupate into adults.

Great idea! Thanks for the suggestion...............I will forward to the originator and ask that he does just that.
